Creating Covers for Lulu
Several of you have written lately about how to better comply with Lulu's stringent size requirements for a full spread cover file. Lulu only deals with points, which is a unit of measurement preferred by some printers, and this is a very precise measurement. To use BookCoverPro with Lulu, we would need to know the conversion from points to inches or cm.
For simplicity's sake, and to avoid lots of decimals, we've chosen to convert to inches, which is:
1 inch = 72 postscript points.
For example, when you need to set up a cover that is 1263.996 points x 825 points, simply go to this nifty little converter at http://www.convertunits.com/from/inches/to/PostScript+points
Type in your specs, convert to inches, and you have your conversion! Keep in mind that BookCoverPro allows up to 6 decimal points, so you will have to round off to the nearest hundred-thousandth... But that shouldn't pose much of a problem.
